Meal Planning Checklist:
(Are you in a hurry? Use one of your 'quick shop' plans.)
Check out the pantry and freezer: What's in there that you can use?
Can you do a $25 challenge?
Check the sales catalogues: are there any specials to plan around?
What about bulk buys for a OAMC cook up?
Try a new recipe: you know there are heaps that you want to try.
Have a theme week: only have food from one particular country / time.
Reduce Meat Consumption: for healthier and cheaper meals.
*Serve smaller meat portions with more vegetables and carbs. *Go for 1/2 vegetables, 1/4 meat, 1/4 carbs. *Serve fewer meat meals each week. *Serve Yorkshire puddings with roasts, (or bread rolls with roast chicken) *Extend casseroles and minces with pulses and legumes. *Use TVP to extend mince. *Serve a nice healthy veggie soup before main meal to fill up tummies so you only need to serve smaller main meal.
Go for variety, each week plan to have:
1 Roast, use meat for lunches 1 Vegetable / Vegetarian 1 Chicken / Turkey 1 Fish / Seafood 1 Pasta / Noodle 1 Red meat (different type to roast) 1 Spare for left overs, eating out or take away, (Add extra Vegetable, Chicken or Fish for any overlaps)
